Do Your Part. Trust Him With the Outcome.

Learning to move with urgency without living in a hurry.

I often reflect. I reflect on what I'm doing, where I'm going. I even like to evaluate what I'm currently doing and explain it out loud to see if my concept/system makes sense. In this season of my life I'm actively pursuing my creative business and also building and also wondering if i'm walking out all of the gifts the Lord has given me. But I think what God has been teaching me lies right within my very passion. That lesson is to slow...down.... to act with urgency but not to rush. Not to feel the need to do everything at once. The act of rushing is counter productive.

Do you ever realize that when you’re rushing, you’re more likely to drop something?

More likely to mess up what you’re doing?
More likely to burn something?

Slow. Down.

I've found this to be the overall theme in every area of my life recently. Going back a little, I've always loved the idea of peace, like the idea of not rushing. I hate rushing. With that, I've also always found women who move intentionally, and swiftly but not in a hurry to be...for lack of a better term, so very chic. So this is exactly what and who I wanted to become. I've intentionally been training my mind to slow down, and observe rather than move frantically. And I'd say I'm becoming the woman I've dreamed of. But see, I've unlocked a new level in this life journey and it's finding that balance within my work and also making sure that I'm not wasting time. Because let's be honest. If you become accustomed to moving too slowly you might just end up being lazy or another version of a problem. Because while hurrying can be counterproductive, moving too slowly can be a problem in several ways too. So this is the tension that I've been wrestling. This is where I realized that the two can co-exist, and co-exist well actually.. I’m building a life worth slowing down for. I’m learning that no matter how much work I put into something I’m working on, none of it matters if I don’t seek first the kingdom. None of it matters if I don’t slow down long enough to take in the memories, moments, or even the lessons learned along the way.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬

Finding my routine has been a part of this journey for me, and over the last few days, maybe weeks even I’ve been filled with a conviction about how I was so concerned with developing my routine, and yet my time with God seemed to be a fleeting factor.

No one wants to actually admit that but can I be honest here? Why is it that if we wake up late, the first thing to go is the time we spend with God?? We won’t not show up for work, we won’t skip that morning coffee, but time in the bible? Hmmm, I may not have time for that.

If that’s not your story then power to you, babe.

I started to see that pattern in my life and the Holy Spirit was so kindly confronting me about it. Powerful things happen when you sacrifice your flesh, and give your first moments to the Lord. This alone, taught me something about the art of slowing down. The art of standing still. And reminded me that as long as I remember to seek HIM first, and do my part, I’m trusting in Him for the outcome.

If you’re reading this maybe you’ve been wrestling with the season of standstill, maybe you’re growing weary. But hear me (or in this case read my words) when I tell you to remain steadfast. Seek first His kingdom AND His righteousness.  Don’t succumb to the hurry of this world… and I want to emphasize that… the world we live in is in a constant state of hurry. There are actual things in the world that require a state of urgency. But don’t live so constantly in a hurry that you miss out on what God is doing.

Do your part, and trust Him with your outcome.
